TCPA to cut production in Czech Republic
Car manufacturer group TCPA will reduce production in the Czech Republic from May as demand on small cars decreases. Working days in the common plant of Toyota, Peugeot and Citroen will be reduced to four, while daily shifts will be pulled down to two from the previous three.
According to the plans, the plant will produce 221,000 cars, 20% less than the year before.
Production decreased in 2011 as well, to 270,000 units.
Currently the Peugeot 107, Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo models are produced in the factory, however, demand on small cars is decreasing in Western European markets.
The main markets are France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
In addition, a staff reduction is expected at the factory, established in 2005.
