As Dr Rudolf Krebs, leader of electric drive systems at Volkswagen Group, put it: “The fleet test in Belgium is another milestone in our development, as we can gather valuable experiences about the operation of the Golf Blue-e-Motion in a metropolitan environment so typical of the region”.
During the tests, 3-3 Golfs will be at the service of advisory company Accenture and retail firm Colruyt, while the rest of the cars will be driven by employees of AKKA Technologies, Coca Cola GmbH, the European Commission and the brand’s Belgian distributor. 7 out of the 10 cars will feature the so-called “mymove” common car sharing system, which provides optimal utilisation.

Erik Halskov, leader of the Department of Infrastructural and Logistic Mobility, Operation and Service of the European Commission said: “The test vehicles will be available for the office-holders of the European Commission as part of the vehicle fleet. Taking part in this fleet test is very interesting for us, as now political perspectives can be rationally completed with practical experiences as well.”

The charging of the vehicles is carried out by special charging boxes at the site of the company or even in the garages of the users at home. The query of important information, such as battery charge, consumption data or the charging process and the remote control of the aircon, is done by a special iPhone App.
After having successfully closed the test runs in Germany, carried out with 80 vehicles, VW shifted the fleet tests of the Golf Blue-e-Motion to an international level in 2012. Within its frame, since January, the company has been testing 15 cars in Austria and 10 in Belgium. The company is planning to send vehicles to France and the US, too.
