“In this year’s race we had to overcome many challenges, primarily due to bad weather. Unfortunately, we collided with other vehicles several times on the Rotterdam racetrack and this had a negative effect on our performance. However, we are extremely happy that in spite of all that, we managed to keep our second place and being one of the two teams that managed to cover more than 2,000 kilometres in this year’s Shell Eco-marathon,” said Zoltán Kutasi, team leader.

The team of Győr-based Széchenyi István University switched categories and excelled with a completely new, electric urban concept. The team covered 133.54 kilometres with 1 kWh energy, finishing in 8th place. “We worked very hard in the past few months and we consider it a huge success that we managed to finish in top 10 in a category that we hardly knew and that has an extremely competitive field,” said team leader Dániel Pup.

The only Hungarian team from a secondary school was the team of Kandó Kálmán Secondary Vocational School, who also achieved excellent results in this year’s race. They finished in 22nd place after covering 183.39 kilometres. “We are very proud of our students, who managed to build their car on their own in such a short time, which passed the strict technical scrutineering without a single problem. Furthermore, we managed to finish in mid-field in one of the strongest categories,” said János Csorba, preparing teacher.
