While there is a huge surplus of graduates in economics in Hungary, more and more companies and institutes realize that there is an increasing demand on foundry and metallurgical engineers, including material engineers in the automotive industry.

The largest automotive manufacturers and their suppliers are finding it difficult to find qualified workforce, especially young graduates in these professions. To address this shortage, Miskolc University has now formed a collaboration Győr-based cylinder head manufacturer Nemak.

The Hungarian subsidiary of the Mexico-based supplier of 48 OEMs globally will help in establishing an automotive casting department and supporting education to promote the training of casting engineers in higher education.

A dual education programme will be launched in September 2015. Theory will be taught at Miskolc University, while the students will spend their internships at Nemak, in Győr. Miskolc University and Nemak are internationally renowned players in engineering circles so future graduates will certainly won't have a problem with finding employment.

As the university course represents a new opportunity, the programme of Miskolc University and the field need to be popularized among local secondary school students.

Representatives from Miskolc University and Nemak meet local secondary school students to promote the University's new programme, by visiting local secondary educational institutes in the regions of Miskolc and Győr to popularize foundry and metallurgical engineering among students.
