Even during the slow summer months Hungary´s automotive industry has plenty to offer. Let´s recap what happened in Hungary´s auto sector during the 31st week this year.

Audi Hungaria posted growing production volumes and revenues in H1 2015: the Győr-based subsidiary manufactured more engines and cars and booked higher revenues than in the same period of the previous year. At the same time, Audi Hungaria further strengthened their research and development activities in Győr.

At a charity auction after the Hungarian Grand Prix the first ever Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake that rolled off the production line at the Kecskemét Mercedes plant was sold to Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton for HUF 28 million.

However, two days after the auction a buyer bid even higher, and eventually the car was sold for HUF 30 million, which went for charity. In total, Mercedes-Benz Hungária Kft. and Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. raised over HUF 44.1 million for the International Children's Safety Service.

Suppliers

Last week, turbocharger systems manufacturer BorgWarner handed over a new powertrain plant in Hungary. The U.S.-based automotive supplier handed over a new manufacturing unit in Oroszlány, creating 160 new jobs in the region.

The Hungarian subsidiary of Japan-based AGC group is among the leading automotive glass manufacturers in Europe. AGC Glass Hungary Kft. CEO Zoltán Papp said the company's main strength is manufacturing sidelite glass products.

He added: the company is expecting to produce 13 million units this year, setting a new record in manufacturing.

Tiszakécske-based Andritz Kft. have carried out a technology development and expansion project after receiving a HUF 144 million aid from European Union funds.

According to information from the company, Andritz Kft. have bought a digital, synchronised, completely hydraulic, four-cylidner plate roll machine, expanded the paint shop and increased production area by 225 sqm.

We reported last week that MetLog Logistic Center, a new logistics facility, is currently being built in the close vicinity of the Kecskemét Mercedes plant.

Continental Automotive Hungary Kft. have launched an online auction sale to sell off some of their used tools. The company has plans to carry out a technology development project and purchase new equipment.

The executive competition committee of the Hungarian Competition Office has agreed to allow Flextronics International Europe B.V. to gain full control over the Micoh B.V. group.

Arrabona Racing Team, the Formula Student team of Széchenyi István University of Győr have showcased their newly-developed formula racing car.

After two years of development the team finished the car they will be competing at this year's Formula Student Hungary event in August. Last week, the team presented the new racer dubbed ART_2.

A Hungarian-built Heros Aquadux X 1500 fire engine was presented at the Budapest 9th District Fire Department on July 29, 2015.

Economy

Domestic industrial producer prices were up by 1.5 percent in June 2015 y/y thanks to a 1.1 percent decrease in domestic sales prices and a 2.9 percent increase in export sales prices, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH) reported last week.
