Foreign minister says Hungary should prepare for Tesla expansion
"We must develop a systematic, direct relationship with Tesla to be prepared for a decision on the car maker´s expansion plans in Europe," Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said this week.
The minister added that Tesla has a good chance to capitalize on the European market, and that one of the most important aspects of where to set up a new production site for such a large auto maker is which markets they deem important.

In other words, if Tesla becomes successful in Europe, it might set up another operation in the continent, he pointed out.
The minister reminded that the Hungary's ambassador to the U.S. visited the company's local production site, while the ambassador in the Hague paid a visit to the car maker's Dutch operation.
The conclusion of the visits was that if Tesla manages to gain ground in the European market, there might be a possibility for setting up a new production site in the continent.
The minister then told the ministry's Chargé d'Affaires in New York to establish a more systematic and direct relationship between the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency and Tesla to prepare for a decision on the car maker's plans for its expansion in Europe.
