Exedy to create 150 jobs in Tatabánya next year

As a result of the investment, one fourth of all friction linings, clutch systems and clutch disks manufactured globally will be produced in Hungary.

Akita Koji, CEO of Exedy Corporation said at the announcement of the investment that the Japanese manufacturer, present in 23 countries worldwide, employs over 17,000 people. The company's Hungarian subsidiary operates in Tatabánya.

The plant is supplied with parts from Asia, while the finished products are delivered to the company's European partners. Koji emphasised that the company is expanding its Hungarian subsidiary to manufacture components previously exported from Japan, China, and the U.S. locally in Hungary to supply its partners much faster.

Setting up the company's fourth production unit costs HUF 7.3 billion, and the company has purchased an area of 37,000 square metres in the immediate vicinity of its existing facility. The new plant will be finished by summer 2015 and production launch is planned for January 2016.

Koji Akita pointed out: as a result of the investment, one fourth of all friction linings, clutch systems and clutch disks manufactured globally will be produced in Hungary. In 2015 the Exedy will create 150 new jobs and is planning further expansion. The Japanese executive said the investment creates an opportunity for local companies to become suppliers.

Japan is currently the largest investor in Hungary, with increasing bilateral trading between the two countries. Levente Magyar, State Secretary of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Trade for economic diplomacy, more announcements are expected in the coming period.
