BorgWarner inaugurates new drivetrain plant in Oroszlány

U.S.-based automotive supplier BorgWarner handed over a new manufacturing unit in Oroszlány, creating 160 new jobs in the region.

The plant moved from a previous location in Szenlőrickáta to the immediate vicinity of the company's existing turbocharger unit in Oroszlány. The plant is manufacturing transfer gears and powertrain components for Land Rover all-wheel drive systems but the company is also a partner of other OEMs such as Volvo and Volkswagen.

Plant director Béla Csonka said the investment was financed from the company's own funds. The 4,000-square-metre plant has more room for expansion the future, he added. The company is planning to increase their staff by 100 in the next 4–5 years.

The current project has been drivetrain systems manufacturer BorbWarner's third investment in Oroszlány. In 2001, the BorgWarner built a turbocharger plant, and last autumn, the company celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony of an exhaust systems manufacturing plant.

BorgWarner invested over HUF 9 billion in the construction of the exhaust plant and the expansion of the turbocharger unit. At the two locations the company will create a total of 400 new jobs.

BorgWarner are present i in 19 countries worldwide with 58 manufacturing locations, and in 2014 the company booked a consolidated income of $8.3 billion. The BorgWarner group are an employer of 220,000 people worldwide.
