Audi continue to grow in Hungary

Audi Hungaria posted growing production volumes and revenues in H1 2015: the Győr-based subsidiary manufactured more engines and cars and booked higher revenues than in the same period of the previous year.

At the same time, Audi Hungaria further strengthened their research and development activities in Győr. The company also broke a record in employment.

In H1 2015, 1,067,525 engines were produced at Audi Hungaria (H1 2014: 1,066,236). The company manufactured 816,965 (809,252) four- and five-cylinder petrol and diesel units, 227,952 (233,440) six-cylinder engines and 22,608 (23,534) eight- and ten-cylinder units.

The AG's Győr plant supplies over 30 manufacturing sites of the VW AG with power units.

In vehicle manufacturing, 84,888 (66,640) cars rolled off the production line in H1 2015, including 14,353 (7,895) TT Coupé, 4,582 (2,411) TT Roadster, 53,700 (45,578) A3 Sedan and 12,253 (10,756) A3 Cabriolet models. Two years after launching full-scale manufacturing, including pressing, painting and assembly, the Győr-based factory is now operating at full capacity.

"In H1 2015 our company set a record in manufacturing volumes. In addition, we implemented a number of innovations both in engine and vehicle manufacturing," Audi Hungaria CEO Thomas Faustmann said. "Our team of highly motivated professionals managed to carry on with the developments started in the previous years and achieved new milestones. Győr is an important production location for the Audi group," Faustmann emphasised.

In H1 2015, Audi Hungaria booked a revenue of €4,147 million (€3,712 million). The company invested €235 million (€289 million) in the Győr unit, in areas such as engine development, which received a new facility and engine testing equipment.

On June 30, 2015, Audi Hungaria had 11,342 employees, up 5.3 percent y/y. With the Audi Hungaria Faculty of Vehicle Engineering at Széchenyi István University of Győr, the company is further strengthening its efforts to train engineers and promote scientific knowledge transfer in the Győr area.

Another important scientific project is the new Research Centre of Automotive Technology, founded in cooperation with the Hungarian Scientific Academy, Széchenyi University and the municipality of Győr.
