Audi Hungaria celebrates 100,000 cars from Győr

The 100,000th car has been manufactured since the launch of mass production at Audi Hungaria´s new vehicle plant in Győr, Hungary. The 100,000th car is a glacier white Audi S3 Sedan.

The car, featuring a red interior and powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI engine manufactured in Győr, has been sold in the U.S.

The Audi A3 Sedan has been in production at the company since June 2013, the A3 Cabriolet since last October, while the new-generation TT entered mass production just a few weeks ago. Thanks to high demand on these cars, the company introduced the third shift at the plant in August.

"The 100,000th car is a very important milestone," said Audi Hungaria CEO Thomas Faustmann. "It proves that the investment in car manufacturing in Győr was the right decision. With the flexibility and reliability of the Győr plant, we have gained our customers' trust," Faustmann added.

"I'm extremely proud that our team in vehicle production has reached this milestone so quickly," said Gerd Walker, member of the board of directors responsible for car production.

"Launching the new-generation TT and the third shift means that the factory is now operating in top gear. As a result, Audi Hungaria's annual capacity has increased to 160,000 cars," added Walker. Currently over 3,000 people work in car production at the company.

Of the models manufactured in Győr, the A3 Sedan is available worldwide The A3 Cabriolet and the S3 Sedan are already sold in the European market and their introduction to the North American and Asian markets will follow in the next months.

The new TT Coupé has been available for pre-order in Germany since June.
