The UK-based company's Hungarian subsidiary is growing both in terms of turnover and the size of its staff thanks to increasing demands on modern self-adhesive solutions in the region.

The parent was founded by John Shipley in 1969 in Sussex, UK. Initially, his company was a distributor of 3M adhesives, later he extended his activities to contour cutting, but he had to wait until 1984 for adhesives to become a reliable and recognized technology all over the world. Production doubled as a result, but it was only in 2001, when the company opened its first production unit on the continent, in Budapest, Hungary.

According to Dávid Krasznay, the CEO of Parafix Hungária Kft., the British parent chose Hungary as a location for its new plant as many international producers and their suppliers focused their production on Central Europe, and as the company is a supplier of Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers, it was evident that they also need to set up a production site in the region.

"We don't have standard products but rather technological solutions and development capacities, with which we are striving to satisfy our customers' always changing and special requirements," says Dávid Krasznay.

This is the company's competitive advantage because its customers are mostly large companies with new ideas, and Parafix can provide the flexibility these large enterprises would not be able to achieve on their own.

Currently there are 70 people working at the Budapest unit, including 15 engineers whose tasks include production management, planning and development.

Thanks to the innovation of its engineers, Parafix Hungária has its own purpose-built machines, including a high-capacity, complex, computer-controlled rotary machine capable of providing a controlled, precise and safe production technology.

The company's expansion is continuous: in 2014, the company's headcount has been increased by 10 and the company is planning to hire additional workforce and purchase new equipment.
